THOUSANDS of women gathered at the Ugu Indoor Sport Centre today to take part in a summit organised by Minister of Women and Children; Lulu Xingwane and the Jacob Zuma Foundation.

The summit gave a platform to women from different walks of life, to interact with government and to get information on government programs to develop and skill women, especially rural women, widowed women, and children who find themselves in vulnerable positions.

The summit gave a platform to women from different walks of life, to interact with government and to get information on government programs to develop and skill women, especially rural women, widowed women, and children who find themselves in vulnerable positions.

In welcoming President Jacob Zuma, KZN Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize committed the KZN government in ensuring full support to national government's plan for the development of women.

Presenters at the summit talked on a range of issues that affect women, especially rights of inheritance, rights of women who are married in customary law, and many other issues.
